All-over color is the whole head taken to a single shade. It is the right call when you want a clean, even result, when you are covering a lot of gray, or when previous color has gone patchy and needs resetting.
It is worth being honest about the commitment. A single process grows out with a line, so you are on a four to six week cycle from then on. If you want something that grows out without a deadline attached, hand painted color is the better trade and I will say so.

- Yes, that is what it is for. Gray is coarser and more resistant than the hair it replaced, so it sometimes wants a few extra minutes of processing.
