Balayage is painted on by hand rather than pulled through foils, which is why it grows out the way it does. There is no sharp line at the root, so you can go three or four months between appointments instead of six weeks.
Every balayage I do starts with a conversation about your natural level, how much time you actually want to spend on your hair, and what your last colorist did. Hair that has been box dyed or previously lightened behaves differently, and I would rather plan for that up front than surprise you in the chair.
Most first time balayage appointments run three to four hours including the toner and a rough dry. If you are going significantly lighter than your natural color, it may take more than one session to get there without compromising the hair.

- How long does balayage last?
- Three to four months for most people before you need a refresh. The color itself softens sooner than that, so a gloss at the eight week mark keeps it looking fresh.
- Can I get balayage over box dye?
- Sometimes, but not always in one session. Box dye deposits unevenly and can lift orange. Book a consultation first so I can look at it.
